New/Edit Reference Page

When you are creating or editing a page for your Reference Unit, you will enter the following information:

Page Title
This should be a short description of what is contained in this page. If you are writing a unit about the New England States, for example, you might have a page titled "The State of Maine" or "State of Maine."

Description
This is a place to provide a little more detail about what will be found in the page. For example, "History, basic geography, and interesting facts about the State of Maine."

Keywords
This field is optional, but may help visitors find your unit if you decide to share it on the site. Enter a series of words and phrases separated by commas.

Text
This is where you will provide the content of the page. Use the large text box to enter your content, and the toolbar above to add formatting and styles.  Please keep your formatting simple and easy to read. Bold, italic, and styles should be used sparingly. Pages which are cluttered and littered with unnecessary styles will not be published.

Media Files
In most cases you won't need this feature, but if you need to add an image to your page, click "Create Media Gallery." The page will reload, and you will now see a button which allows you to browse for images on your computer. Select the image you want to include, and upload it.

Once your image is uploaded, place your cursor in the position where you want the image to appear on your page. Now click the "Globe" icon in the editor toolbar. You will see a window appear that shows the images you have uploaded.  Select an image, and then select a style. The style names describe the formatting: if the style name contains the word "left" or "right," that means the image will be "floated" to one side or the other, and the text will wrap around it. If the style name contains the word "noFloat," that means the image will simply appear between paragraphs of text, and the text will not wrap around it.

Click "Okay" to add the image to your page. Note that the image may not appear formatted properly in the editor. However, when you preview your page, you will find that it displays properly.

Adding Questions and Answers
We encourage authors to include questions and answers on each page. Some pages may only have three or four questions, while other pages may have many more.

Click "Add new question" to insert a question and answer.  You will see a new form appear with a question textbox and an answer textbox.  Please note that even though the Equation Formatter toolbar does not appear in this context, you may add equations manually to your questions using the Equation Formatter tags.

You can also use the up and down arrows to rearrange the order of your questions, or use the x icon to delete a question.

When you are finished adding content and questions, click submit.
